My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Beer Nutz Bottle Shoppe and Grille...

Beer Nutz Bottle Shoppe and Grille is an awesome burger and beer joint conveniently located down the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh’s Aspinwall suburb. This extremely casual, kid friendly, easy evening out type restaurant provides its customers the opportunity to enjoy their dinning experience however they like it. With an amazing craft beer selection, and even more amazing beer specials, this bottle-shop offers variety at such a reasonable price, I am confident I will be back often. This particular Friday evening, flying dog bottles and drafts were three dollars each, and Beer Nutz had seven different varieties to choose from. Quite content with my Flying Dog IPA, weighing in around 10% by volume, I couldn’t believe my eyes when the waitress delivered my burger.

This gigantic mass of a life changing experience, Beer Nutz’s feature Ruination Burger, was served with a Fried Egg, Bacon, Onion Rings, Lettuce, and Tomato, had my jaw on in my lap. But the real treat was the Two Grilled Cheese Texas Toast Sandwiches that made up the bun. If the city of Pittsburgh has a unique “cuisine,” it must be demonstrated by our infatuation with creating an entire banquet experience delivered within the confines of a sandwich. Beer Nutz’s Ruination not only embraces the Pittsburgh Sandwich Movement, but in my opinion they take it to the next level.

"Not bad, but under seasoned and bland. My burger had maybe 7 toppings and still didn’t really taste like much. Cheese only half melted and clearly pre-shredded and giant eagle brand. Id come back for the beer, but not a burger. Sideline’s burger much better, and five dollars cheaper." – Tim

"Overall satisfying. The turkey burger was actually good, whereas at most places it is usually pretty disappointing. Good fries, the coleslaw could have used more flavor, especially since it was a topping on the burger. It kind of got lost on there and really only added texture." - Carla
