My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Houghs... Hough’s is an awesome neighborhood watering hole with a three-page beer menu. It is a great place to stop after work for a beer and as it turns out, a great place for a burger. The crowd was young and local, and the service was great. They have some decent weekday specials. I sat at the bar and ordered the Cowboy Mike Burger. Spicy, filling, and delicous, this burger came on thick Texas Toast, buttered to perfection. |
The burger's overall flavor blended very well together. The spice did not overpower the flavors of the beef. Nothing really jumped out at me as being over the top, and I think this burger scored so well because of its flavor completeness. Usually I request to hold the lettuce and tomato, but it seemed more natural on the Texas Toast. The homemade chips were delicious, and I asked for some honey mustard sauce on the side to dip them in. Great spot, Great Burger, Great Value. In addition I have to mention that the bartenders and waitresses at Hough's are always the best. They are friendly, helpful, and actually seem to enjoy having a conversation with you while you sit at the bar. This is truly a great neighborhood pub. |
