My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Point Brugge Café... Point Brugge is a casual neighborhood restaurant with an exceptional menu! Tucked away in the center of residential Point Breeze, this hidden gem offers high quality cuisine coupled with a cozy atmosphere and a modern vibe. If you are looking for an modern culinary experience, this is certainly your spot; but make sure you arrive early, because once the local crowd fills the tables, you may find yourself waiting in a long line. This Thursday evening, my party started with an order of the house mussels which were accompanied by an amazing red sauce (tomato provencal, fennel and roasted eggplant). The mussels were steamed perfectly, not mushy or overdone, and in keeping with my personal Mantra, "No sauce left behind," I had to order some extra bread for dipping. |
For my entree I ordered the Point Burger: Fresh ground chuck, grilled medium-rare, and topped with Nueske’s bacon, caramelized shallots, fontina cheese, arugula & whole grain mustard aioli. What an amazing burger it was – it all came together perfectly. The strong flavor of the fontina cheese was easily discernable, but was not overpowering. The crispy bacon enhanced the texture of every flavorful bite, and the bun was perfect for the occasion. Subjectively, I loved this burger, and I was not at all surprised when it scored highly on the objective burger scale. I really enjoy Point Brugge and I cant wait to get back here and try the rest of the menu. |
