My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Sidelines...

Sidelines Bar and Grill has a laid back local neighborhood atmosphere that feels very specific to the small communities in Pittsburgh. I was pleasantly surprised with what this casual watering-hole had to offer. First of all, at sidelines the price is right for just about everything in the shop, and by that I mean it is wicked cheap. In addition, they have a killer Tuesday Build Your Own Burger menu. Starting at 5 bucks, this has to be the best burger value in Pittsburgh. As you can see from the picture of my burger, I took advantage of picking my own toppings. Of course that included opting to replace my bun with grilled two cheese sandwiches.

Here’s how this burger experience works; pick any combination of 14 toppings, 8 cheeses, 20 seasonings, dressings, and sauces, however you like it, as creative or pedestrian as you are feeling at this particular moment, then kick back and enjoy an amazing burger. You’re the author, Sidelines takes care of the publishing, and everyone’s a winner. Just in case all that awesome is not enough for you (and of course you know it wasn’t for me), you can select from 9 outside the box Premium toppings for a nominal up charge. I ceremoniously selected a burger with Tomato, Onion, Jalapeños, Garlic and Salt Rub, all saddled between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It was an awesome burger, and I would order it again if I wasn’t so set on trying different possibilities. In all seriousness, go to sidelines on a Tuesday night, enjoy the burger, and have a great experience.

“The 1st bite of this burger was wonderful. I immediately thought “yes, this is a good burger.” Its not that I didn’t think that during the middle and end of the burger, its just that the constant excitement dissipated gradually as some of the topping flavors from the toppings disappeared from the salt rub. I would say overall it’s a good burger and you should try it. “ - Jose

“Great toppings and choice of toppings. Really good bun, fries themselves were great, but ordered them with Cajun seasoning, which was just dumped on top of the fries in a big pile. This made the fries almost inedible. I would order this burger again.” - Carla
