My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Stinky’s Bar and Grill...

Stinky's Bar and Grill is tucked away into the depths of Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming Lawrenceville neighborhood. I can assure you that if I had not actively sought this place out, I would have never benefited from the experience of their awesome burger. Not only is Stinky’s a few blocks off Butler Street (Lawrenceville’s main thoroughfare), but it’s seemingly windowless brick exterior hardly conveys any welcoming gesture. Be forewarned, the bar section of Stinky’s is still smoker friendly, (more accurately but less concisely stated “Non-Smoker Unfriendly”); so, if you want to be able to taste your food, not have to shower and wash your clothes immediately upon exit, or be able to breathe while you are inside, you will have to sit in the separate and unequal dinning area. Fortunately, objectivity is so interconnected with the burger rating process that these aesthetic and environmental concerns were considered and evaluated, but did not interfere with the convivial process.

The Menu at Stinky’s is extensive, very reasonably priced, and very good. Unlike all of the physical characteristics of Stinky’s facilities, the quality and character of the sandwiches, burgers, wings, and appetizers were excellent. After spending a great deal of time debating over menu items, I ordered “Kevin’s Favorite” Burger. Now I have never met, Kevin, but he and I must have very similar taste when it comes to burgers, because these two char-grilled patties, topped with flavorful and delicious melted American cheese, perfectly grilled onions and some of the crispiest dill pickles I have ever tasted, were absolutely delicious. My burger was cooked perfectly med-rare, and every bite burst with flavor. I will surely be returning to Stinky’s, and I sure wouldn’t mind if they spruced the place up a little bit and put some more considerations in for us non-smokers.
