This burger has a lot of competing flavors. Brie cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, arugula, and white truffle aioli. Unfortunately, these flavors didn't maintain their individuality throughout the burger. The melted brie, caramelized onion, and white truffle oil were completely masked by the strong flavor of the bacon. If I could award points for creativity and originality, I would do that in this case. However, a harsh and objective burger scoring system like ours leaves little room for romance. The burger was served hot, and the middle was pink, which is how I like it. The bun and arugula did little to add to the overall flavor. In sum, I would say that this burger was pretty good, but not great.
At $ 11.50, this burger is well overpriced, and I wouldn't order it again. When I go back to Winghart's in the future, I will be trying something different and less expensive. Because these burgers are all served Ala Carte, I think that this entire menu may be a bit overpriced. I can't be certain, though, until I try the pizza. |
