Gaucho Parrilla Argentina

 

My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Gaucho Parrilla Argentina…

At the foot of the 16th Street Bridge, tucked in a tiny room, is one of the best kitchens you will find in Pittsburgh.  Beyond the counter are half a dozen chefs and line cooks pumping out delicious cuisine as the orders are being shouting back to them by the hostess.  Inside the restaurant, tabletops rest on stacked piles of wood and a giant chalkboard displays an array of items to choose from.  Despite the cool vibe indoors, the place to be is the adjacent patio.  Low-key and relaxing, this made for the perfect spot to hang out as people walking by couldn’t help but doubletake at some of the food.  This place has something for everyone and is a great lunch-time getaway if you’re in the downtown area.

Gaucho is hands down the best burger I’ve had in this city.  It doesn’t taste, look, or feel like any burger you’ll find on this list.  The Steak Burger is made of fresh-ground beef that is grilled up rare.  It is thrown on a sturdy ciabatta bun and is served with two add-ons of your choice.  I went with grilled onions and provolone chesse.  The onions were unreal; crispy and flavorful.  However, this is definitly the type of burger that doesn’t need a piece of cheese on it.  The provolone definitly got lost in the flavor of the meat.  Next time around, I am going to choose my second add-on with more care.

I regret eating this burger so fast because it’s defintiely one worth savoring.
