My quest for the best burger in the City of Pittsburgh took me to Houghs…
Hough’s is an awesome neighborhood watering hole with a three-page beer menu. It is a great place to stop after work for a beer and as it turns out, a great place for a burger. The crowd was young and local, and the service was great. They have some decent weekday specials. I sat at the bar and ordered the Cowboy Mike Burger. Spicy, filling, and delicous, this burger came on thick Texas Toast, buttered to perfection.
The burger’s overall flavor blended very well together. The spice did not overpower the flavors of the beef. Nothing really jumped out at me as being over the top, and I think this burger scored so well because of its flavor completeness. Usually I request to hold the lettuce and tomato, but it seemed more natural on the Texas Toast. The homemade chips were delicious, and I asked for some honey mustard sauce on the side to dip them in. Great spot, Great Burger, Great Value.
In addition I have to mention that the bartenders and waitresses at Hough’s are always the best. They are friendly, helpful, and actually seem to enjoy having a conversation with you while you sit at the bar. This is truly a great neighborhood pub.
